POINT GUARD
Randy Foye – Los Angeles Clippers – $5300: Although I do not recommend going as low as Foye tonight at PG, if you find yourself in the midst of a numbers crunch and are in need of a cheap PG, well then Foye is one of a select few worth considering below 6k. Despite averaging just under 18 FD points a night over his last five, Foye put together a solid 28 FD point performances on Saturday night. Another positive sign for potential daily fantasy owners is his recent influx in minutes played. Foye who had played over 30 minutes in just two prior games this season has now played over 30 in each of the Clippers last four games, and is averaging 32 minutes per, over his last five contests.
HONORABLE MENTION: Luke Ridnour – Minnesota Timberwolves ($5900)
SHOOTING GUARD
Corey Brewer – Denver Nuggets – $5600: Brewer has now scored 20 or more Fanduel points in 4 of his last five games, and continues to play over 30 minutes per game since his return from injury. Tonight Brewer will square off with the team that drafted him, the Minnesota Timberwolves. If you have read my articles in the past you know how I feel about players with maybe an axe to grind or a little extra “I’ll show them attitude”. Regardless of grudges or match up Brewer makes for an excellent pick with his price tag still below 6k.
HONORABLE MENTION: Jordan Crawford – Washington Wizards ($5800) & Gary Neal – San Antonio Spurs ($5100)
SMALL FORWARD
Jared Dudley – Phoenix Suns – $5900: Dudley burst back into the value pick debate last night after scoring 25 points and providing daily fantasy owners with a better than solid 38 FD points. He has now scored double digit point totals in 11 of his last 13 games for the Suns, and will look to make it 12 against one of the league’s worst defensive teams in the Washington Wizards tonight. Dudley is averaging 6.5 more FD points in Phoenix victories this season, and are big favorites tonight against John Wall and the Washington Wizards.
HONORABLE MENTION: Chandler Parsons – Houston Rockets ($5600) & Matt Bonner – San Antonio Spurs ($5000)
POWER FORWARD
Gustavo Ayon – New Orleans Hornets – $5900: Ayon comes into tonight’s matchup against the Thunder just one rebound shy of three straight double doubles. He is averaging just over 22 FD points a night over his last five, but Ayon is more of the what have you done for me lately kind of guy, and in his last three contests has seen that average skyrocket to 30.3 FD points a night. Any player who has recorded three straight 30+ FD point nights costing you only $5900 should certainly be considered a top value pick this evening.
HONORABLE MENTION: Markieff Morris – Phoenix Suns ($5600) & Kenneth Faried – Denver Nuggets ($4600)
CENTER
Marreese Speights – Memphis Grizzlies – $5700: Speights has endured a bit of an up and down year so far and has been plagued by inconsistent minutes throughout the season. Over the last five games however, Speights has seen an increase to nearly each of his statistical categories including minutes played, having averaged 31 per game during this stretch. Although you may enjoy seeing him get a little extra PT these days, we as daily fantasy players are not directly rewarded for court time. Speight’s extra playing time has provided daily fantasy owners with a 30.6 FD point per game average over his last three contests and was two rebounds shy Saturday night of his third straight double double.
HONORABLE MENTION: Dejuan Blair – San Antonio Spurs ($5500)
There you have it folks, my selections for tonight’s top value picks. Remember, all players listed for today’s article were priced below $6000, so before you ask, Yes Ersan Ilyasova at $6400 is still a great pick tonight as he faces off against the Orlando Magic, a team in which he averages 34 FD points against, not to mention his 57 FD points just one night ago. Thank you again for taking the time to check out dailyfantasysports.org, and best of luck to all of our readers tonight. wondering how you forget wilcox… he was having a good game before getting ejected and KG isn’t playing tonight
Doc,
Thanks for the comment. Didn’t forget Wilcox ($4900) just didn’t list him because of the uncertainty surrounding KG tonight. But you are right, if KG sits tonight Wilcox at only $4900 has been playing well as of late averaging 18 FD points a night over his last five. If KG does indeed miss tonight’s match up with the Mavericks, Wilcox should be able to provide daily fantasy players with slightly higher than normal production, 20-25 FD points would be my best guess.
and you should even put shelden williams up there considering lopez is out for today
No doubt Williams has been playing some solid basketball over the last week or so, but I refrained from listing him tonight because this will be his third game in three nights, and will have to worry about chasing Stoudemire and Chandler for the duration of the evening. He is most certainly an under the radar pick tonight, but for the reasons listed above he just didn’t quite have enough to make our top value list, although we has very close with his $5100 price tag. Thank you Doc.
so would you say that Stoudemire is a good play tonight? Melo might be back tonight and he stunk it the last game. New Jersey does tend to give up a lot of points to centers. For this reason I pose the question.
Being a Knicks fan and all of course I’m a huge fan of Stoudemire. However he just hasn’t been producing well enough for me to warrant a full recommendation for your roster tonight. I also don’t expect this game to stay close for very long, Nets are on the tail end of a back to back to back which may limit Stoudemires minutes, hence less production. He will certainly have a great match up, but I want to see the Lin, Melo, and Amare show for a couple games before I recommend any of them.
One more side note, Chandler is listed as questionable for tonight’s game, and if he is unable to go, Amare will have big shoes to fill down low tonight.
How about Luis Scola? He is valuable too.
Baron,
Absolutely, and he has been playing much better as of late. Today’s article featured only players priced below $6000, but now that you mentioned Scola ($6500) lets quickly breakdown some of his recent production. He is still only averaging just a shade above 20 FD points a night, but took advantage of a suspended Samuel Dalembert who went on to play just 18 minutes last night. Scola played 39 minutes and provided daily fantasy owners with 36 FD points on 12-20 shooting from the field. I would like to see a bit more consistency from Scola before giving him my full blessing, but he appears primed and ready to return to form any day now.
I actually picked up Jared Dudley 3 weeks ago in fantasy and he has been a tremendous help. He had a slow decline these past two weeks, but I am sure he’ll bounce back.
As for Marreese Speights, as long as Zach Randolph is out, he’ll have value.
Wilson Chandler is coming back in a week or so… he’ll have value as well..
Blog Surface,
Nice work on the Dudley pick up. He has been hit or miss over these last two weeks, but should have an excellent opportunity to provide you with a solid performance again tonight against the Wizards. I am very interested to see what Chandler will provide fantasy players with over the next month or so and beyond. Thanks for the comments.
I like your post about Corey Brewer playing his old team and I am right with you on guys who play their old teams tend to play big. My concern though is, didn’t Brewer get hurt in last nights game? Do you know what his status is? And if he did get hurt and still plays, he will probably be limited, so wouldn’t that make Afflalo a good play?
To be honest I was unaware of any injury to Brewer last night and am having trouble finding anything confirming it. I will continue to search and check a few more things as it gets closer to game time. I will update around 6:30 or so. But to answer your question .. Yes Afflalo would be the play if Brewer doesn’t play.
Sorry Chris, don’t see anything indicating Brewer’s status tonight, I anticipate him to play and be my top value pick. Apologize in advance if I’m missing something.
